What the Bible Offers When You Don't Know Where You Are
Feeling lost can look like a decision without a clear answer, a faith that has quietly gone silent, a season where God feels absent and direction feels impossible. It can also be the quieter disorientation of not recognizing yourself anymore — of having drifted from who you were becoming. Scripture speaks into all of it.

Psalm 23:3
Old Testament
"He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake."
David's shepherd psalm. The promise is not that you found the path — but that He leads. The direction comes from the relationship, not from your own sense of direction.
John 8:12
New Testament
"I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
Jesus's promise — not a full map revealed in advance, but light for the walking. Enough to see the next step. That is how guidance works in Scripture.
Isaiah 30:21
Old Testament
"And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left."
A specific promise of divine direction — the voice behind you as you navigate. Not ahead, as if you're supposed to already know, but behind you as you go.
Proverbs 16:9
Old Testament
"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps."
The interplay of human planning and divine direction. You make plans — and He directs the steps. Both are true. Neither cancels the other.
James 1:5
New Testament
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
The most direct promise in Scripture for those who don't know what to do: ask. God gives wisdom generously, without scolding you for needing it.
